Wine Club
The first rule about the wine club is to never talk about it. Actually, I think that may be another type of club but you get the point. Most of the people you will meet at a wine club are lovers of fine wine. Either that or they are a collection of lushes, washed up alcoholic actors or people who just drink so much wine that they join a club to try and justify their over-consumption. That said, every other wine club is filled with respectable wine lovers who are often upstanding members of the community.
Depending on where you live and the circles in which you socialize, there may not be a wine club in your area that you know of. There may still be one but because nobody talks about it or the members think you are not good enough, you would not know about it. Do not despair. With the online world of wine, you can simply sign up to an online wine club and chat about fine wine with people who you will never meet and could be anywhere in the world. Obviously, it is more fun to attend a real life wine club as then you can drink wine with real people rather than getting hammered on your own sat at a computer.
It used to be the case that wine was for the elite. In some ways it still is but the more people that drink wine, the less wine drinking is just for snobs or rich people. When you joint a wine club, you will learn about all kinds of wine from all over the world, which wine goes with certain cuisine and how much to spend on different bottles for different occasions.
Wherever you live, however elementary your knowledge of wine may be, there will be a wine club out there which will gladly welcome you and teach you the ways of the wine world. It may not be a particularly good club, but it is better than nothing.
